The NPA role provides nursing practice support and professional practice consultation services for registrants. This starting position functions as an advisor and facilitator in the delivery of programs which support professional LPN practice. The NPA is responsible for assisting individual and groups of registrants to understand the role of CLPNBC and the requirements for licensed practical nurse practice. Working collaboratively with the Nursing Practice Consultants (NPCs), the NPA delivers and evaluates programs which support registrants to meet the Standards of Practice.
The NPA positions are the first new hires for the Practice Support Department in some time and will strengthen the team which already encompasses practice, education, and quality assurance. We hope to introduce the new staff members by October 2010.

Board Committee opportunities
Consider serving on a Board Committee
LPNs and the public are welcome to apply to serve on College committees reporting to the CLPNBC's Board of Directors. These committees assist the Board in its ability to govern the College.

- Quality Assurance Committee: reviews continuing competency requirements, and quality assurance related to LPN practice.
- Finance: monitors the College's financial administration and advises the Board on financial matters.

Invigilator opportunities
CPNRE Invigilators Wanted
Three times a year - in January, May, and September - hundreds of practical nursing graduates and other qualified candidates write the B.C. Registration Exam (Canadian Practical Nurses Registration Exam or CPNRE) at various locations across the province.
The CLPNBC is responsible for ensuring that there are invigilators, or supervisors, at every exam site. The number of invigilators required varies depending on the number of candidates writing the exam. The ratio of candidates to invigilators is determined by Assessment Strategies International (ASI), the administrators of the CPNRE.
Sometimes invigilators are LPNs who live in the region, while others are retired LPNs or other qualified individuals. As the CPNRE is one of the measures upon which a PN graduate's eligibility for registration in Canada is based, the position of supervising the exam is extremely important for the LPN profession.
Click on the link below for more information on the Invigilator job description.
Interested in being an invigilator? Send a letter stating your interest along with a copy of your resume to the Examinations Coordinator at the CLPNBC.
Resumes will be kept on file for one year. Only those selected for an interview will be contacted.
Invigilators are paid $200 per day plus lunch and mileage expenses. Orientation is provided by the CLPNBC's Examinations Coordinator. |
