Standards of Education Committee Opportunity

Are you looking for a professionally enriching volunteer opportunity? The Standards of Education Committee is looking for an LPN member. The Standards of Education Committee oversees the establishment, implementation, and evaluation of the British Columbia Practical Nurse (PN) Education Program Recognition process.

Knowledge & Abilities

Preference will be given to volunteers who demonstrate the following:

  • Proficient with computers and able to successfully navigate online platforms
  • Active listener and critical thinker, reasoned decision-maker
  • Knowledge of CLPNBC’s mandate
  • Ability to interpret and apply policy, legislation and standards
  • Current practising registration with CLPNBC

Preference may also be given to volunteers who demonstrate:

  • Ability to consider evidence and information objectively and fairly, putting aside personal bias when making decisions
  • Ability to articulate a position with supporting rationale
  • Ability to support and contribute to a meeting culture that is respectful of other committee members
  • Experience sitting on boards or committees
  • Knowledge of BC practical nursing education programs

Expectations

  • Meetings may be held in person, by telephone or by web-conference.
  • Dedicated time commitment. Meetings are generally held on a monthly basis, usually during regular business hours; additional meetings are scheduled as needed.
  • To facilitate the committee’s work:
    • preparation prior to all meetings is expected
    • attendance on a regular basis is expected
  • Volunteer position
    • Meal, accommodation, travel and incidental expenses are reimbursed according to CLPNBC policy
  • Honorariums may be claimed for committee meetings, subject to CLPNBC policy
